Blue, an award-winning opera featuring an all-Black cast that tells the story of a Black family in Harlem in which the Father experiences the tensions of being “a Black man in blue.”

In August 2022, the Toledo Opera will be producing Blue, an award-winning opera featuring an all-Black cast that tells the story of a Black family in Harlem in which the Father experiences the tensions of being “a Black man in blue.” To contextualize the story of Blue within the lived experiences of Toledoans, Toledo Opera and Madhouse collaborated on a 30-minute documentary film titled Blue: Stories from Toledo featuring interviews with Toledoans and opera experts.  The University of Toledo and the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission will host a panel presentation and documentary screening that will be available for viewing at Mott Branch or online at facebook.com/ToledoHRC
