To celebrate this year's #WorldRefugeeDay, we look forward to co-hosting a community book discussion on "When Stars Are Scattered" by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed. This National Book Award Finalist is about growing up in a refugee camp, as told by a former Somali refugee. This graphic novel and story is told through the eyes of Omar and his brother Hassan, Somalian refugees who lived for years in a United Nation's refugee camp in Kenya, waiting and working for an opportunity to find a new home. Together we will discuss their story and what it can teach us about the reality of life as an immigrant and refugee.
This conversation is presented by the Northwest Ohio Immigrant Rights Network and co-hosted by: Pemberville Public Library, Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Way Public Library, Welcome Toledo-Lucas County, and Wood County District Public Library.
