Join the Nancy Drew Sleuths, an organization of Nancy Drew fans, collectors, and scholars, for a day of Nancy Drew History and Collecting. Learn about Nancy Drew’s mysterious history and the people behind her creation, including local Toledoan Mildred Wirt Benson, who was the first Carolyn Keene to write the Nancy Drew books. Get tips on collecting Nancy Drew books and collectibles – how old is your book? What printing is it, and what’s it worth? Learn about all the formats of Nancy Drew books over the years and find info about collecting the books and collectibles. Visit the Jennifer Fisher Nancy Drew Collection in Children’s Library to explore the books and collectibles, and enjoy fun activities.
10 a.m. - noon: Jennifer Fisher, president of the Nancy Drew Sleuths will speak about Nancy Drew History and Collecting.
Noon - 1 p.m.: Lunch on your own at downtown restaurants.
1 - 2:15 p.m.: Nancy Drew, Detective (1938)-In the first of the series starring Bonita Granville as teenage sleuth Nancy Drew, she investigates when the wealthy benefactress of her high school mysteriously disappears. (66 min, rated G).
Sensory Considerations: The Nancy Drew events will take place in various spaces that contains a mix of natural and artificial light. Expect volume level to be commensurate with crowd size, which may vary.
Accessibility Details: Located on the first and second floor, accessed by elevator and/or stairs. Tile or low pile carpet throughout the building. Limited free parking is available in the attached garage. A limited number of mobility assistance scooters will be available for use.
