Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series, Live at the Library, a series featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This month, we welcome singer Half Gringa.
Half Gringa is the indie music project of Chicago-based singer-songwriter Isabel Olive. Blending indie rock with Latin American and Midwestern folk influences, her work reflects her bicultural upbringing. The name “Half Gringa” comes from a childhood nickname, symbolizing her exploration of identity and heritage.
Her 2017 debut album, Gruñona, received local acclaim, landing on Chicago Magazine’s "10 Best Chicago Albums of 2017" and Chicago Reader’s "Best Chicago Albums of the Decade." Her sophomore album, Force to Reckon, is a deeply personal collection exploring love, loss, and self-discovery. Featuring contributions from her full-time band and guest musicians like Gia Margaret, the album showcases Olive’s poetic lyricism and intricate compositions.
With tracks like “Afraid of Horses” and “Transitive Property,” Force to Reckon intertwines personal storytelling with universal themes, balancing introspection with moments of humor. Olive’s emotionally rich performances and dynamic stage presence make her live shows captivating and immersive.
With heartfelt songwriting and a distinctive sound, Half Gringa creates an unforgettable live experience. She is thrilled to join us at Main Library to meet and perform for the Toledo audience!
