Explore ancient Native American history and culture in the Maumee River Valley.

In Mounds on the Maumee: Exploring the history of Toledo and Maumee Rivers First Peoples, presenter Taylor Moyer, historic programs manager at Black Swamp Intertribal Foundation, explores ancient American Indian history and culture in the Maumee River Valley through an in depth analysis of original stone, bone, and clay artifacts. This program honors those who walked before us and whose bones are buried beneath us. 

About the Presenter:

W. Taylor Moyer is the Historic Programs Manager for the Black Swamp Intertribal Foundation. Moyer is a graduate of Northwest State Community College obtaining an A.A. in Historic Preservation and a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Adolescent Young Adult Social Studies Education with a minor in History. In 2024 Moyer was inducted into the Northwest State Community College Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Moyer is a Nationally Certified Historic Interpretive Guide, a member of the Waterville Historical Society, the American Battlefield Trust and is a Son of the American Legion.  

Sensory Considerations: This program will use artificial lighting.  All speakers will use microphones.

Accessibility Details: Located on the first floor, accessed by elevator and/or stairs. All doors will feature an automatic function or be propped open prior to program start. Tile or low pile carpet throughout the building. Limited free parking is available in the attached garage.
