Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series, Live at the Library, a series featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This March, we welcome Jess Cornelius.
Born in New Zealand and musically forged in Melbourne, Australia, singer-songwriter Jess Cornelius has carved out a sound that’s equal parts poetic and powerful. Now based in Los Angeles, she delivers shimmering indie rock with a storyteller’s heart—songs that are at once deeply personal and universally resonant.
Before going solo, Cornelius led the acclaimed band Teeth & Tongue, earning praise from Pitchfork, The Guardian, and NPR Music. Her solo work continues that momentum, blending introspective lyrics with expansive, Beatles-esque pop textures. Pitchfork calls her “funny, self-effacing, and honest,” while NPR’s All Songs Considered hails her latest record, CARE/TAKING, as “a stunning display of expressive indie rock with dynamic, layered instrumentation.”
Written during a period of profound change, CARE/TAKING finds Cornelius exploring transformation, motherhood, and the courage it takes to rebuild. The result is an album that’s emotionally rich, sonically adventurous, and full of radiant energy—music that reminds us of the beauty in moving forward.
Join us for an extraordinary evening of indie-rock and indie-pop as Jess Cornelius brings her evocative sound and fearless storytelling to Main Library, downtown Toledo.
