The Art Tatum African American Resource Center celebrates the life and work of jazz great Art Tatum.

Art Tatum was born on October 13, 1909 in Toledo, Ohio. During his short life, a mere 46 years, he overcame barriers (physical and societal) and shot to superstardom in the jazz world, gaining admirers from Fats Waller to Duke Ellington. His fans also included classical piano stars such as Arthur Rubenstein, Sergei Rachmaninov and Vladimir Horowitz, all of whom expressed amazement at his technical virtuosity. He managed to inspire and intimidate fellow musicians...and his legacy endures. The Tatum Center pays homage to the man who remains one of the most revered musicians in music history with selections from his catalog, videos and commentary. Light refreshments. Free and open to the public.
