How can you be an ally at work and in the community? This session will define the concept of privilege, identify examples in your life, and provide tools you can use in your role as ally.

How can you be an ally at work and in the community? Explore what it means to be ally and what is allyship under the guidance of Founder and CEO of Elevate People Solutions, LLC, Sheila Eason. Sheila will assist you in defining the concept of privilege and identifying examples in your life. With this understanding, you will walk away with the tools to better recognize your personal role and responsibility in allyship.

Sheila Eason is founder and CEO of Elevate People Solutions, LLC, a leadership and personal development consultancy. She provides workshops and training in the areas of leadership and personal development, and diversity and inclusion. Her areas of expertise include developing and implementing HR and D&I strategies, training and development, strategic planning, executive coaching, and leadership development. Her clients include small businesses and nonprofits, government agencies, universities and healthcare organizations.

The Human Relations Commission (HRC) endeavors to support a safe, energetic, and livable city. The Commission support residents working to overcome prejudice and build mutual respect.  HRC provides free mediation services as well as resources and programs through its four (4) committees: Community & Neighborhoods, Stop the Violence, Social Justice and Youth Empowerment & Engagement which are led by mayoral appointed residents representing a broad range of community perspectives. 

This event is presented by Elevate People Solutions, LLC and sponsored by the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission. It is part of Better Toledo, a personal and professional development series to ensure “you will do better in Toledo.” Certificates of completion are available to participants who take part in three or more sessions in 2022.
