This program will give Makers and Crafters the opportunity to learn from expert, James Dillehay, about pricing strategies they can apply to their businesses.

Pricing correctly for both retail and wholesale is essential for a crafting business to succeed.  Upon completion of the class, students will have a real-life understanding of pricing strategy they can apply to their craft business right away that increases sales and grows profits.

The presenter, James Dillehay, is an author and a professional craft artist which means he actually makes money from his craft. Between selling his handmade products, he has also authored 12 books that have been mentioned on HGTV, in The Wall Street Journal, Family Circle and many craft magazines.

His presentation about the four phases of pricing will include ample time for questions with Mr. Dillehay.

1) Calculating production cost including a discussion of overhead for home businesses.

2) Learning the average market price for similar items. How to research how much buyers are willing to pay for items like yours.

3) Arriving at your retail or wholesale price. The formula for arriving at prices for selling at craft shows, online on Etsy, or wholesale to stores.

4) How to raise prices without losing customers. Apply these seven tactics to raise perceived value and prices and these five ways to lower production costs.

One-of-a-kind item pricing vs production item pricing: How to price unique once-only made items versus a reproducible product line.

Several books of Mr. Dillehay's books are at Toledo Library, including Selling your crafts online; How to price crafts & things you make to sell, and Start a creative recycling side hustle.

The presenter will be Live Via Zoom and will be open to questions.
