About the event

Acclaimed cozy fantasy author E.M. Anderson joins Authors! to talk about their novel The Lord of the Wood. Known for crafting character-driven, comforting stories that blend warmth with high-stakes adventure, Anderson will share what inspired them to mix cozy fantasy with creeping horror elements in their latest book. During the program, they will discuss their creative process, their transition from independent to traditional publishing, and how their love for nature and folklore shapes their fictional worlds. The evening features a 45-minute presentation followed by a brief audience Q&A. Every ticket includes a copy of the book.

About the book

The Lord of the Wood is a cozy horror fantasy that echoes classic fairytales like Beauty and the Beast. The story follows Arthur, who enters a deadly enchanted forest expecting it to endanger his life, but not his heart. While finding safety in a hidden vale with a mysterious man named Ira, Arthur longs to return to his family. To escape safely and rescue Ira from a cursed, lonely existence, the two must journey to the heart of the wood to heal the forest. However, as they venture further, Ira begins turning into a beast, forcing Arthur into a race against time to save the man he is falling for and find his way home.
