Meeting Room A (Capacity : 50)

What is Human Trafficking and how does it effect Toledo and the surrounding area? How does trafficking impact women and feminism? Join us for a discussion about Human Trafficking.

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality.  Local organizations like the University of Toledo's Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute and REACH (Northern Ohio's Regional Efforts Aimed to Combat Human Trafficking) are tackling this issue in our community.  Join us for a discussion on Human Trafficking: how it affects Toledo and Lucas County, our state, and our communities.

The Steinem Sisters Collection champions women’s historical, cultural, and political contributions and strives to provide a welcoming space for women from all walks of life to share their truths. It is composed of “feminist materials,” intersectional works that uphold human and women’s rights and interests in defining and promoting political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes, races, classes, sexual orientations, and genders. The Steinem Sisters Collection has grown to over 900 titles in the ten years since its inception. Regular programming, including book discussion groups and talking circles, aims to highlight the collection and build community. This collection was possible due to a generous donation by The Steinem’s Sisters Collective.
