A Steinem Sisters Collection Talking Circle

Join us on Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 pm at Heatherdowns Library to discuss the status of women in business, including women-owned and operated business, the wage gap, structural barriers, and more.

For the 11th consecutive year, women remain underrepresented at every level of the corporate pipeline—especially in senior leadership, where they make up just 29 percent of C-suite roles, unchanged from 2024 (LeanIn.org and McKinsey 2025 study). Despite people of all genders wanting an inclusive and respectful workplace, women in business are still facing hurdles that their male counterparts are not: wage gap, funding access, structural barriers, and more.  Linda Faye, Toledo Library Small Business and Non-profit specialist, and Lisa Halsey, business owner and coordinator of the NWO Business Mentoring Program, will join us for this discussion on Women in Business.

The Steinem Sisters Collection champions women’s historical, cultural, and political contributions and strives to provide a welcoming space for women from all walks of life to share their truths. It is composed of “feminist materials,” intersectional works that uphold human and women’s rights and interests in defining and promoting political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes, races, classes, sexual orientations, and genders. The Steinem Sisters Collection has grown to over 900 titles in the ten years since its inception. Regular programming, including book discussion groups and talking circles, aims to highlight the collection and build community. This collection was possible due to a generous donation by The Steinem’s Sisters Collective.
