Heart or Market? Finding the Balance

Do you write the book of your heart or the book the market is asking for? Kathryn Moon will speak with panelists about the balance between creative fulfillment and commercial success.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

Kathryn Moon is a country mouse who started dictating stories to her mother at an early age. The fascination with building new worlds and discovering the lives of the characters who grew in her head never faltered, and she graduated college with a fiction writing degree. She loves writing women who are strong in their vulnerability, romances that are as affectionate as they are challenging, and worlds that a reader sinks into and never wants to leave. When her hands aren't busy typing they're probably knitting sweaters or crimping pie crust in Ohio. She definitely believes in magic.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Lana Kole, with a southern twang that's all charm, hails from Tennessee with their four feline roommates. Lana’s most likely busy writing stories, but not without a cat purring in their lap. Their work brings life to characters who don't fit the mold, romance as sweet as it is sexy, and worlds better than this one.

Petra Palerno is a lifelong weirdo who loves writing otherworldy romance and erotica. If it's got any combination of aliens, fae, or other assorted monsters count her in. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and a menagerie of spoiled pets. She can often be seen making a cocktail at her in-home tiki bar and lurching away into her writer's cave like the true goblin she is.

Lisa Rayne writes fun, action-adventure romance novels that feature badass Black and multicultural main characters living and loving on both sides of the Atlantic. When she's not writing, advocating, or business coaching, she enjoy being a mom to two GenZ daughters, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, binge-watching planner flip-throughs on YouTube, and plotting how to get one of her novels turned into a movie featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Jill Kemerer writes warm, witty, small-town Christian romance novels often featuring cowboys. She's an author, wife, mom, and avid reader.

Sensory Considerations: This program will use artificial lighting.  All speakers will use microphones.

Accessibility Details: Located on the first floor, accessed by elevator and/or stairs. All doors will feature an automatic function or be propped open prior to program start. Tile or low pile carpet throughout the building. Limited free parking is available in the attached garage.
